Background
Histones are relatively small proteins that contain a high proportion of positively charged amino acids, e.g., arginine and lysine. This positive charge allows histones to bind tightly to the negatively charged DNA. There are five basic types of histone molecules called H1, H2A, H2B, H3, and H4. Histones are abundantly present in virtually all eukaryotic cells.

Antigen
This antibody was generated by immunizing rabbits with a mixture of synthetic peptides containing amino acid residues 1-15 (MSGRGKQGGKARAKA) and 81-96 (PRHLQLAIRNDEELNK) of human Histone H2A, GenBank no. ref|NP_066390.1| .

Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded human breast probed with Histone H2A antibody at 5 ug/ml.

Staining of formalin-fixed tissues is enhanced by boiling tissue sections in 10 mM sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.
