Background Vigilin, also known as high density lipoprotein binding protein (HDLBP), is a 1268 amino acid containing cytoplasmic protein in close association with the endoplasmic reticulum with fourteen K homology (KH). A transport protein, widely expressed in most of tissues, appears to play a role in cell sterol metabolism. It specifically binds to HDL (high density lipoprotein) molecules and may function to protect cells from over-accumulation of cholesterol by removal of excess cellular cholesterol. |
Antigen
A portion of amino acids 500-550 and 900-950 of human Vigilin was used as the immunogen. |
Application Notes
The amino acid sequence used as immunogen is 100% homologous in human, mouse, rat, chimp, cat, dog and horse. |

Western blot analysis of Vigilin in A) Jurkat cell lysate and B) RAW cell lysate using IMG-6365A at 3 and 5 ug/ml, respectively. IMGENEX’s goat anti-rabbit Ig HRP secondary antibody (IMGENEX, 20301) and PicoTect ECL substrate solution (IMGENEX, 10087K) were used for this test. |
