Background GBP1 or guanlyate binding protein 1 is a 68 kDa GTPase and member of the GTPase1 family of molecules (Kunzelman, 2006). GBP1 expression is induced by Interferon g as well as other inflammatory cytokines including IL-1a, IL-1b and TNF-a (Naschberger, 2004). Induction of GBP1 expression by poly I:C, a prototypical TLR3 ligand, as well as GBP1 expression dependency on NF-kB and IFNa response elements implicate TLR pathway involvement (Naschberger, 2004). Inversely proportional expression of GBP1 and MMP-1 as well as other related molecules to adhesion and migration show a clear functional role of GBP1 in suppressing angiogenesis and migration especially of endothelial cells (Guenzi, 2003). As a regulatory molecule it is centrally involved in signal transduction of inflammatory and cell migration networks. |
Antigen
A portion of amino acids 500-550 of human GBP1 was used as the immunogen for this antibody. |
Application Notes
The amino acid sequence used as immunogen is 100% homologous in human, 95% in rat and 79% in mouse. |

Western blot analysis of GBP1 using GBP1 polyclonal antibody. Human HCT-116 lysate in the absence (1) and presence (2) of immunizing peptide and mouse RAW cell lysate (3) probed with GBP1 antibody at 3 ug/ml. IMGENEX’s goat anti-rabbit Ig HRP secondary antibody (20301) and PicoTect ECL substrate solution (10087K) were used for this test. |
