Background HDAC8 is a 377 residue class I enzyme that lies close to the phylogenetic boundary between the class I and class II histone deacetylases and maps to the X chromosome (Xq13). HDAC8, under the regulation of PKA, plays an important role in determining the acetylation state of histones. HDAC8 is phosphorylated by cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) which decreases the activity of HDAC8 and leads to the hyperacetylation of histones H3 and H4. Pathological role of HDAC8 has been observed in one of the most frequent types of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). |
Antigen
This antibody was generated by immunizing rabbits with a synthetic non-phosphopeptide corresponding to human HDAC8 around the phosphorylation site of serine 39 (R-A-SP-M-V). |
