Background GSK3b is a proline directed serine/threonine kinase, originally identified as a result of its role in glycogen metabolism regulation. GSK3b is particularly abundant in the central nervous system, where it is neuron specific. It affects many fundamental cellular functions, including cell cycle, gene transcription, and cytoskeletal integrity. GSK3b has recently been implicated in many signaling pathways, such as Wnt and PI3/PKB signaling. Recently the pathological role of the protein has been identified in Alzheimer Disease (AD), a neurodegenerative disease. Human GSK3b has been mapped to chromosomal region 3q13.3. |
Antigen
This antibody was generated by immunizing rabbits with a synthetic non-phosphopeptide corresponding to human GSK3b around the phosphorylation site of tyrosine 216 (V-S-YP-I-C). |
