Background
Researchers have indicated that they want access to novel target antibodies quickly to aid in their research. IMGENEX is pleased to be able to offer researchers access to cutting-edge products that are still in the process of characterization/validation. IMGENEX’s ‘IMX’ antibody line is shown by ELISA to bind to the peptide used as immunogen. Investigators should empirically determine the suitability of the antibody, including optimal dilutions, for other applications of interest.

TIAM1 is a specific GEF for Rho-like GTPase Rac1, which originally was identified in T lymphoma cells as an invasion and metastasis inducing gene. The TIAM1 protein harbors a number of motifs. At the NH2 terminus of TIAM1, a myristoylation site and two PEST domains are present. The latter are thought to be predictors of protein instability but may also be involved in the regulation of protein-protein interactions. Further, TIAM1 contains a PSD-95-Dlg-ZO-1 (PDZ) domain, also known as Discs-large homologous region. The protein is conserved amongst vertebrates and is expressed in almost all adult tissues, with especially high expression in the brain and testis. TIAM1 has been implicated in numerous cellular processes, including cellular migration and adhesion. Overexpression of the protein is associated with various malignancies. The gene for human TIAM1 is localized on chromosome 21q22.1. |

Application Notes
The amino acid sequence used as immunogen is 100% homologous in human and chimpanzee, 94% homologous in rat, mouse, monkey and dog, and 82% homologous in chicken. |
