Background
NALP5 is a 1200 amino acid cytoplasmic protein belonging to the NALP protein family and contains a NACHT domain, a NACHT-associated domain (NAD), a C-terminal leucine-rich repeat (LRR) region, and an N-terminal pyrin domain (PYD). NALP5 plays an important role in embryonic development beyond the two cell stage. Expression of this protein is restricted to oocytes and may have a role in autoimmune premature ovarian failure and infertility in women. Like other members of the family, NALP5 may also play a critical role in the activation of proinflammatory caspases like CASP1 by the formation of multiprotein complexes known as inflammasomes and may also be a cause of neuronal apoptosis following brain injury or diseases. Reports suggest that auto-antibodies against NALP5 which are highly specific may also be useful in the diagnosis of the multiorgan autoimmune disorder autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type I (APS1).

Antigen
Amino acids 215-232 of human NALP5 QEGATAAETEEQGHGGDT protein were used as the immunogen.

Application Notes
The amino acid sequence used as immunogen is 100% homologous in human ( isoform CRA_b) and 77% homologous in monkey.
