Background
Interleukin-35 is a novel heterodimeric cytokine composed of the IL-12p35 subunit and the Epstein-Barr virus-induced gene 3 (EBI3) protein. As one of the IL-12 family members, Interleukin-35 is known to play an essential role in immune regulation of the CD4+CD25+ regulatory T (Treg) cells, from which Interleukin-35 is also specifically produced. Interleukin-35 is able to expand CD4+CD25+ Treg cells whereas it can inhibit proliferation of CD4+CD25- effector T (Teff) cells and development of proinflammatory Th17 cells, suppressing inflammatory responses.



Antigen
A full-length human Interleukin-35-Fc fusion protein was used as immunogen for this antibody.

Application Notes
The human Interleukin-35 protein is a chimeric protein consisting of the human IL-12a/p35 subunit (NP_000873.2) and the human EBI3 (NP_005746) protein. Clone 15K8D10 tests as being specific to the EBI3 subunit.
