Description |
This antigen is an E. coli-derived recombinant protein that composes all of the reported immunogenic determinants found in gp41 and a the C-terminus of gp120. The gene encoding this fusion protein was synthesized using codons optimized for E.coli expression and doesn’t represent a linear HIV-I envelope sequence. rHIV-I is a non-glycosylated, 233 aa polypeptide chain, having a molecular mass of 27275.88, pI=9.68. |

Biological Activity |
The recombinant HIV-1 envelope protein was thoroughly tested in various tests as well as ELISA using the standard BBI serum panels. All antibody detection tests on recombinant HIV-1 envelope protein were as sensitive or more than the standard Abott third generation tests.
The recombinant HIV-1 Envelope protein has been shown to be immunoreactive with all sera of HIV-1 and HIV-type O infected individuals tested, and with 60-80% of HIV-2 infected individuals.
The recombinant HIV-1 Envelope protein is suitable for both ELISA and western blot analysis. |

Protein Content |
Protein quantitation was carried out by two independent methods: 1.UV spectroscopy at 280 nm using the absorbency value of 0.2875 as the extinction coefficient for a 0.1% (1mg/ml) solution. This value is calculated by the PC GENE computer analysis program of protein sequences (IntelliGenetics). 2. Analysis by RP-HPLC, using a calibrated solution of VEGF as a Reference Standard. |
