Description |
EGF is a neurotrophic factor that promotes the survival of various neuronal cell types and may play an important role in the injury response in the nervous system. Recombinant EGF produced in E. Coli is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 53 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 6,222 Daltons. |

Stability |
One year from date of receipt when stored lyophilized at -20 to -80°C. 4-6 weeks when stored at 4°C following recommended sterile reconstitution with a carrier protein (BSA or HSA). 3-6 months when stored at -20 to -80°C following recommended sterile reconstitution with a carrier protein (BSA or HSA). Avoid freeze-thaw repetitions as significant loss of bioactivity and/or degradation can occur. |

Biological Activity |
Functional bioactivity for recombinant human EGF is measured in direct comparison with a known standard via the dose-dependent induction of murine NIH 3T3 cell proliferation. |

Endotoxin |
<0.1 EU/ug of recombinant protein by LAL |

Usage |
Reconstitute recombinant EGF at 0.1-0.5mg/ml in sterile, distilled water or aqueous buffer containing at least 0.1% human serum albumin or bovine serum albumin. It is best to aliquot, based upon need, when reconstituted. Always quick-spin vial to ensure protein is pelleted and mix via thorough pipetting along bottom and sides of vial. NEVER vortex sample as significant degradation can occur. |
